Ultima was created by Lee Noble of Noble Motorsport Ltd in 1983. The first car, the Ultima MKI (bearing in mind it was 1983!) had a square tube space frame chassis, brakes/steering/front uprights from a Ford Cortina, a radiator from an Austin Princess and a V6 engine and tranmission from a Renault 30.

During the late 1980, the Renault engine proved unreliable, and a small block Chevrolet V8 coupled with a Porsche 4 speed transaxle replaced it alond with revised suspension and bodywork. The result was a car that was not only fast, it would regulary lap all the cars in the race.

In 1991, after further modifications, the MK3 was so fast it was deemed unfair to other competitors and effectivley banned from racing.

In 2005, the Ultima GTR640 was launched and officially named the worlds fastest supercar.
